About

Nestled within the creative heart of The Remakery, a community-driven space in the vibrant neighbourhood of Loughborough Junction, Irma’s café is more than just a place to eat and drink—it's a celebration of heritage, sustainability, and community.

But our café is about more than just great food. It’s about creating a space that honours the environment and supports the local community. Housed in The Remakery, a hub dedicated to creativity and sustainability, our café embraces eco-friendly practices in every aspect of our operations. From sourcing local ingredients to using compostable packaging, we’re committed to making choices that protect our planet while offering delicious, wholesome vegetarian meals.

At the heart of residential street, Lilford Road our café is slightly off the beaten track but a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Whether you’re a local resident, a commuter, or someone seeking a unique culinary experience, you’ll find a warm welcome here. We’ve created a cosy, inviting atmosphere where you can relax with friends, enjoy a quiet moment with a book, or connect with the diverse community that calls this area home.

Our café is not just a place to eat—it’s a space to celebrate the rich cultural history of Loughborough Junction and Brixton, honour our Caribbean and British heritage, and contribute to a sustainable future. Join us at Irma’s Café where tradition meets innovation, and every cup of coffee and every bite of our signature buns tells a story of community, culture, and care.

Our story begins with the fusion of two worlds. Founder Dixie Fingal-Rock Innes’ has a deep-rooted need to connect with the food of the Caribbean having grown up in Wales to a British father & Caribbean mother, of whom the café is named after, and having little connectivity to her far-flung roots.

These Caribbean roots run deep in Loughborough Junction’s surrounding area, a neighbourhood that has long been a melting pot of cultures, especially shaped by the waves of Caribbean settlers. These pioneers infused the area with a lively spirit, rich traditions, and an indomitable sense of community, which still resonate today.

Inspired by this legacy, our café offers a unique menu that reflects both Caribbean vibrancy and British comfort. Our signature freshly made buns, stuffed with crisp fritters and a side freshly fried plantain & sweet potato chips, offer a taste of something familiar yet refreshingly different—a nod to the flavours of the Caribbean, reimagined with a contemporary twist. Paired with locally roasted coffee, our food invites you to savour the fusion of two cultures in every bite.
